In-Person Debate Classes
Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum
In-Person Mtn House, 15-Week Program
7 Supplemental hours are included in the fee in addition to the instructional hours. Classes are 1.5 hours in duration, once a week.
The class will focus on thoughtful and logical construction of written cases, understanding the order and structure of a debate, and building confidence in delivering speeches (including rebuttals) through drills, practices, strategies, and constructive feedback. The debate format is Lincoln Douglas (L/D) or Public Forum (P/F). LD debate is a great activity that enhances your ability to communicate effectively, think critically, and research arguments just as they do in the academic realm. Weekly homework is assigned. Students will be exposed to advanced material such as advanced case analysis, framework debate, responding to Kritiks, and targeted drills to improve rebuttal and cross-examination skills. No classes during Spring break.
