Summer Coaches Bio

Our summer camps are led by a team of exceptional candidates, each with a proven track record in the highly esteemed and fiercely competitive American high school speech and debate circuit. These coaches, who have dedicated countless hours to their craft, have excelled nationally and reached the elimination rounds at many top invitationals, such as Stephen Stewart, Jon Schamber, TOC Digital Series, Stanford Invitationals, Loyola, College Prep, Peninsula, and the Harvard Round Robin. They have repeatedly qualified for the NSDA Nationals (National Speech and Debate Association) and CHSSA State Tournament, a testament to their skill and dedication. We are also actively hiring more coaches for our fall program.

Elizabeth S 

  Qualified to CHSSA State Tournament and NSDA Nationals 3 times each in various events (Lincoln-Douglas, Informative Speaking, and Parliamentary debate)

  Have experience competing in Impromptu, Informative Speaking, Oratorical Interpretation, and Extemporaneous Speaking

  Reached double-Octofinals (top 32) at the 2022 Tournament of Champions in LD

  Reached late elimination rounds at national LD invitationals such as Loyola, College Prep, Peninsula, and the Harvard Round Robin

  Have significant experience working with and mentoring students on the MHHS team in both speech and debate

  Coached 1 full year of LD with DebateDrills, helping develop the JV debate curriculum

  Currently studying geophysics at UCLA

Shreya L

Shreya competed in speech events for all four years at Mountain House High School, where she served as speech captain and vice president during her junior and senior years. 
Shreya's dedication and skill in speech competitions are evident in her achievements. She not only qualified for NSDA Nationals and the Tournament of Champions but also advanced to elimination rounds at prestigious events such as the Stephen Stewart, Jon Schamber, TOC Digital Series, Stanford Invitationals, and the California State Tournament. Her consistent performance is highlighted by her recent qualifications for both the state and national championships, where she placed in the top 10 in the state and in the top 61 in the nation for POI. 
Beyond speech, Shreya enjoys reading and dancing. In the fall, she will pursue a sociology degree from UCLA. She is incredibly excited to work as an instructor at Discourse Power!

Manreet K

Have significant experience competing in Original Oratory, Original Advocacy, and Impromptu.
Reached late elimination rounds at National Invitationals such as Berkeley in Oratory, at MLK Invitational in Oratory and Advocacy, the Claremont Wolfpack Invitational in Oratory, and Finals at Jack Howe      Invitational in Oratory.

Qualified to National Individual Event Tournament of Champions and Competed in Tournament of Champions in Original Oratory in 2020 with 4 bids.
Qualified and Competed in the CHSSA State Tournament in Original Advocacy in (2019).
Have significant experience working with and mentoring students on the MHHS Speech Team for Original Oratory and Original Advocacy.
Graduated (2024) with a Dual Bachelor in Economics and Computer Science from UC Davis.
Currently conducting research in Machine Learning.

Matthew D

 

Qualified and competed in the CHSSA State tournament two times in Parliamentary Debate with an undefeated record.

Undefeated record in Big Valley NSDA District Tournament National Qualifiers for two years.

Competed in NSDA Nationals two times in Policy Debate

Placed 16th in the California State Speech and Debate tournament in Parliamentary Debate (June 2018)

Placed first in the 2019 NCFL National Tournament Qualifiers, going undefeated.

Reached Octofinals at the 2019 James Logan Martin Luther King Jr Invitational in both Parliamentary Debate and Semifinals in Extemporaneous speaking. 

Reached Octofinals in 2019 WolfPack Invitational in Extemporaneous speaking.

Reached Double-octofinals in LD at the Berkeley Invitational 2019.  

Qualified for 48 TOC in Extemporaneous Speaking

Coached for Mountain House High School speech and debate 2019-2020, helping to develop a clear debate curriculum. 

Graduated from UCR in Business Economics

Currently attending CSU East Bay studying Computer Science in the Master's Program, 2025
